Gland packing is also called Sealing packing, usually woven from softer linear materials, typically with a cross-sectional area of squares, rectangles, or circular strips filled into the sealing chamber to achieve sealing. The earliest form of packing seal was the use of cotton and linen fibers stuffed into leakage channels to prevent liquid flow leakage, primarily used as shaft seals in water lifting machinery. Due to its wide availability, ease of processing, low cost, reliable sealing, and simple operation, it has been used until today.
