However, due to its inherent poor creep resistance, PTFE materials can leak at the seal over long-term use because of the creep of the gasket. To improve this drawback of ordinary PTFE, people add other materials such as graphite and glass fibers to PTFE to enhance its creep resistance and improve the durability of PTFE gaskets. Gaskets with other materials added to ordinary PTFE are called modified PTFE.
